Cynthia M. Dai, Founder and Principal

A seasoned entrepreneur, Cynthia Dai has co-founded several high technology start-ups and served on the executive team of both early-stage and public ventures. This hands-on experience combined with strong operational skills in marketing, engineering and finance has enabled Ms. Dai to build or reposition organizations for rapid growth. Ms. Dai's strengths as an Interim Executive lie in attracting results-oriented senior management teams, developing sustainable business models and well-differentiated products, and maintaining a healthy respect for the bottom line.

Dainamic Consulting, Inc.'s Strategy Practice leverages Ms. Dai's career in senior marketing and business development positions at Sun Microsystems and Hewlett-Packard Company, and Interim CEO or VP of Marketing engagements with BMC, WebMoney, Persistence Software, and the Skoll Foundation. In addition to broad experience in all aspects of marketing from product strategy and strategic alliances to branding and positioning, she is trained in the Interaction Method for meeting facilitation.

She has considerable expertise in working with Japanese companies in the U.S. and in helping U.S. companies do business in the Pacific Rim. Ms. Dai speaks English, Mandarin Chinese, and conversational Japanese and has worked and lived in several countries around the world.

A popular speaker, she has presented at UniForum, the Government Technology Conference, the Global Entrepreneurial Economic Forum (Beijing), the International Symposium for Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship (Beijing), and the Skoll World Forum (Oxford). She has taught courses on Leadership, Teamwork, and (Social) Entrepreneurship at the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology at University of California at Berkeley's College of Engineering, Northeastern University's Semester in San Francisco program, Santa Clara University's School of Engineering, Tsinghua University and the China Youth University for Political Sciences (both in Beijing), Tongji University (Shanghai), and Kyushu University (Japan), as well as mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs at the European Innovation Academy (France).

Ms. Dai has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with honors from UC Berkeley. She is currently an Elections Commissioner for the City and County of San Francisco and served on the inaugural 2010 California's Citizens Redistricting Commission.
